Chaplain David Eisenmenger of Friendship Health & Rehab prays before each team practice with the girls and these recent texts were read and discussed during the month of May 2016:
This devotion is an encouragement to run with excellence, knowing that we are building more than just our skill on the field but reflecting “Christ-like”ness with our team.
1 Corinthians 9:24-25 from the Amplified Bible. Verse 24. Do you not know that in a race all the runners run [their very best to win]…Run [your race] in such a way that you may seize the prize and make it yours! Verse 25 Now every athlete who [goes into training and] competes in the games is disciplined and exercises self-control in all things. They do it to win a crown that withers, but we [do it to receive] an imperishable [crown that cannot wither].
This devotion is an encouragement that God is with us always and is interested in every aspect of our lives. This scripture lets us know that when we stumble, God will not let us stay down. He picks us back up, and because He is interested in every aspect of our lives, He encourages us on.
Psalm 37:23-24 from the New Living Translation. Verse 23. The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Verse 24. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.
