Otis Berry performed at the Friendship Health & Rehab summer party for the Pewee Valley Futbol Club team members and seniors recently, going through many of the oldies but goodies.
The Pewee Valley Futbol Club, currently for students that are 9-12 years-old, together with Friendship Health & Rehab, celebrated their intergenerational partnership at the Friendship Health & Rehab campus on Wednesday, May 25th, from 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM. Scholarships were awarded during this event. Water slide fun was held outdoors from 5PM to 6PM.
Senior and their partnered soccer team members from area schools participated in joint sessions of drawing, painting, and other activities to celebrate their partnership this past year. Scholarship monies for their education will be awarded in late summer to the girls for participating in a successful season.
The new Generation Connect Foundation and its Pewee Valley Futbol Club exist to provide an intergenerational experience opportunity to students of all ages, K-12, in the immediate region of the Friendship Health & Rehab facilities in Pewee Valley, KY. Both the residents of the nursing home and the students have agreed to participate to enrich their lives and broaden their horizons through sports, the arts, including music and painting, as well as other service-related activities. Participation in the Pewee Valley Futbol Club offers an opportunity for the participants to receive academic scholarships based on minimum levels of participation in activities through at least one season each year.
